If you have been wanting to see “The Never List,” Houston director Michelle Mowers’ 2020 look at high-school life featuring a guest turn from graphic novelist MariNaomi, and are concerned about the current wave of books being taken out of Texas classrooms, you can combine these two interests at Katy’s Alamo Drafthouse on Feb. 9. A free screening of “The Never List” will precede a panel discussion about banned books in schools featuring MariNaomi (whose work has been banned by Katy ISD and will be appearing via Zoom), attorney Betsey Gomez of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and author Addie Tsai.
