“Even though we were gratified by the audience engagement,” says Luntz, “we know that it’s not the same experience as seeing the films in person… And, of course, people were saying— because people have been going to commercial movie theaters locally — when are you going to have films in the Brown.”

The following weekend will include screenings of Jacques Deray’s recently re-released, erotic 1969 thriller “La Piscine,” Wong Kar-wai’s romantic 2000 masterpiece “In the Mood for Love” and Christopher Nolan’s time-bending blockbuster from last summer “Tenet,” which will be shown for the first time in this town on 35mm. Luntz says this collection of films serve as an eclectic reminder of what the MFAH’s film program usually offers. “It makes sense just because this is something our program is very connected to — to spotlight repertory programming and also show some films on 35mm, since we are currently the only venue in Houston that presents 35mm reel-to-reel, or 35mm at all.”
这就是我们创作《The Man Who Fell to Earth》和《Tenet》的原因,因为这可能会吸引这群人。”
“But our priority is to make a selection, see what is happening with the situation that we’re all well-aware of here in Texas and around the world and try to offer a great movie-going experience, but with the personal safety of our visitors in mind. And it doesn’t make sense to announce films beyond September at this point until we see what is happening locally, and also follow our colleagues at other Houston film and arts organizations. Because I think we wanna be in-sync with everybody.”
