Lizzo earned her first ever Emmy Award nomination on Tuesday. The singer, rapper, songwriter and TV producer had her "Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls" recognized in the outstanding competition program.
A Detroit native who grew up in Houston, Lizzo is the executive producer and host of the series, which debuted on Amazon Prime in March. The eight-episode show tracked the efforts of several plus-size dancers auditioning for positions as backup dancers for Lizzo's Bonnaroo performance.
Lizzo drew good reviews for the show. The Hollywood Reporter wrote "Lizzo was born to be a reality TV host."
Her "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls" was nominated in the competition category along with veteran shows like "The Amazing Race," "Nailed It!," "RuPaul's Drag Race," "Top Chef" and "The Voice."
"Top Chef" also had a local connection, as its 19th season was filmed in Houston.

Outside of the main Emmy categories, "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls" also received five technical category nominations, all for reality programs: cinematography, directing, picture editing, sound mixing and casting.
As for the rest of the Emmy nominations, more can be foundhere. "Succession" led all shows with 25, followed by "White Lotus" and "Ted Lasso" with 20 each.
