Video: ‘Stranger Things’ actress Sadie Sink belts ‘Tomorrow’ as Annie at TUTS in Houston

Sadie Sinkis currently enjoying a breakout run as Max on the Netflix series "Stranger Things." The show is still sitting atop the streaming service's top 10 list. But the Brenham native earned one of her first big roles onstage in Houston.

Sink, now 20, played the title role in a2012 productionof the musical "Annie" at Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) in Houston. She studied at TUTS' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre and Houston Family Arts Center's summer camp, where she starred in an abbreviated version of "Annie." (Video below.)

In a2012 reviewof the TUTS production, theater critic Everett Evans wrote, "The sun comes out every time Sink's Annie marches on stage. She's a natural -- feisty but not overbearing, wistful yet tough and resilient. And she sings with the force, confidence and conviction of a pro."

Sink eventually took her "Tomorrow" to an even bigger stage. She played Annie in a 2013 production on Broadway.

"Every little girl wants to play Annie,"Sinktold the Chronicle that year. "I like her because she's always optimistic, happy and positive. She's also a very strong person. She sets out to find her parents, and she never gives up."

Among Sink's other Houston theater credits are Susan Waverly in TUTS' 2011 production of "White Christmas," Mary Lennox in "The Secret Garden" and Helen Keller in "The Miracle Worker."

TUTS has posted more clips of Sink on theirofficial TikTok accountthat have tallied almost 2 million views.
