当2017年在NRG体育场举行的一场演出被推迟时,Coldplay承诺将与休斯顿球迷一起弥补,然后由于Harvey飓风而被取消。
They probably didn’t expect it to take five years. But one world pandemic later, the band more than made up for the extended delay.
“I don’t think there’s ever been a happier band than we are to finally make it to Houston,” Chris Martin told the mammoth Mother’s Day crowd.
It wasn’t an exaggeration. Sunday night’s show inside NRG Stadium was, in a word, joy. Pure joy. It was an explosion of color and sound, of warmth and energy. Every one of the 50,000-plus fans seemed swept up in the grand emotion of it all.
休斯顿是美国巡回赛音乐音乐的第二站。这是一项积极的绿色跋涉,包括动力自行车和“动力学”舞池,粉丝们用来帮助演出。门票收益的一部分也用于森林砍伐和其他环境计划。
The band started on a small stage at the end of a long runway. The energy was instantly at a ten during songs "Music of the Spheres" and "Higher Power." It rarely subsided from that level. Maybe it was the wait. Maybe it was the relief, and release, of finally being able to commune with others in such a large space with such a grand soundtrack. Martin thanked "local government" for allowing the show to go on after some initial reluctance.
Fans were given bracelets upon entering the venue that lit up in sync with the music throughout the show. Taylor Swift, among others, has employed the same technology. But Coldplay's show was by far the best use of what could have been a throwaway accessory. They became an essential part of almost every song and beautifully integrated the crowd into the experience.
Martin made sweet nods to Houston throughout the show. He frequently spoke in Spanish. He sang a few line of Destiny's Child's "Independent Women" before yelling, "Htown!" The band even performed an original titled "Houston No. 2," about the long road back to the city, featuring Preston Wait of the Josh Abbott Band.
“上次我们来了,我们吃早餐,他们告诉us to leave," Martin said.
They ran through the recognizable hits, of course: "Paradise" and "The Scientist" and a comparatively muted "Clocks." But even the deeper cuts had the same energy. "People of the Pride" was a booming, rock-fueled standout.
马丁在看到她的标志要和他一起唱歌后,在舞台上打电话给二重奏。原始特色是Selena Gomez。
“你有考vid吗?”他给她一个紧张的拥抱后问。她在整首歌中充满了神经和兴奋。
There were wacky duets with a puppet. Periodic confetti canons. Giant balls lobbing across the floor. The band donned neon alien masks during "Something Just Like This" and "Midnight," and multicolored lasers turned the venue into a full-on rave.
It's ultimately a testament to their power as a live act, then, that Coldplay was able to make every moment feel tailored to the crowd. Intimate, even, during the anthemic "My Universe" and the gushingly romantic "A Sky Full of Stars." Martin asked the crowd to put their phones away for just that one song. That most everyone seemed to oblige and just experience the moment felt like a small miracle.
Houston native and "sad girl" pop chanteuse Alaina Castillo performed a few of her songs as people filed to her seats. She's a promising, expressive performer. R&B singer H.E.R. followed, amping up the crowd with her originals and fiery renditions of "I Love Rock 'n' Roll," "We Will Rock You" and "Are You Gonna Go My Way."
