Party on the Plaza returns downtown with Shakira, Taylor Swift tribute acts

It's always best to showcase original local talent. But cover acts draw crowds.

Party on the Plaza is returning with a revamp.

The long-runninglive music serieskicks off April 8 at Avenida Houston and runs through May 20. This year's lineup features cover bands and tribute acts, including odes to Shakira and Taylor Swift. There will also be a 14-foot selfie display.

Shows are from 6-9 p.m. Fridays. It's always best to showcase original local talent. But cover acts draw crowds.
