Rapper Travis Scott gave his first public performance since November's Astroworld tragedy. Amid a wintry dystopia, he performed the song "Mafia."
Scott was introduced by BBMAs host Diddy, who repeated the word "love" several times, and French Montana.
In an Instagram post a few days before the show, Diddy said he "made a demand" that "my brother Travis Scott has to perform." Fans seem to be in agreement. Thecomments on YouTubeare overwhelmingly positive.
"Mafia" was originally part of atwo-song dropthat preceded the Astroworld Festival in Houston.
Less controversial was a performance by Megan Thee Stallion that included her hits "Plan B" and "Sweetest Pie." The Houston rapper, hair swaying back and forth past her waist, dominated the stage solo during "Plan B" and was joined by dancers for "Sweetest Pie." It was a commanding, confident performance.
Earlier in the evening, Megan was named top rap female. She was visibly excited during her acceptance speech and thanked her "hotties," mother and grandmother.
"All the ladies up in here look very, very beautiful tonight," she said. "Everybody in this category is a winner."
