‘Selena’ movie head back to theaters for 25th anniversary screenings

Alamo Drafthouse Katy will also host "Selena" movie parties.

"Selena," the 1997 movie that made Jennifer Lopez a star, is heading back to theaters for a 25th anniversary screening.

Five Houston-areaCinemark theaterswill run the film at 7:30 p.m. April 7 as part of a national celebration. Tickets are on sale now.

Alamo Drafthouse Katy will also host "Selena" movie parties on4月il 10 and 17. They encourage singalongs and will have props to use during the film.

"Selena" was a box office success upon its original release and starred Lopez, Edward James Olmos and Jon Seda. In December, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

The screenings are likely the first of several planned Selena events for April. She would have turned 51 next month.
